Who We Are

At Agglomerated Carbon Works (ACWorks), we develop more sustainable ways to use carbon-based products. Located in Kentucky in the heartland of America, we are stewards of both our environment and the American economy. With a legacy of experience and a relentless passion for progress, we lead the way in developing engineered activated carbons while proudly carrying the “Made in America” flag.

ACWorks is a partnership between Carbonxt and Kentucky Coal Processing (KCP). We draw upon Carbonxt’s expertise in activated carbon technology, market applications, environmental regulations, and new product commercialization. KCP has decades of experience with innovative manufacturing processes and coal processing. Together, we find new opportunities for activated carbon that align with our values and sustainability principles.

What We Do

We specialize in manufacturing activated carbon pellets for a wide variety of industrial and municipal applications. We’ve developed an innovative re-agglomeration process to produce our pelletized carbon products.

  1. The raw material is crushed down to a fine powder and re-agglomorated into a pellet with our proprietary process.
  2. As the re-agglomerated pellet goes through the heat-treatment process, it is activated evenly throughout the entire particle instead of just the surface.
  3. The resulting product is now uniformly activated and able to achieve superior and longer lasting adsorption performance.

In addition to the performance benefits of re-agglomeration, our pelletized carbon products are superior to the standard granular activated carbons (GAC) due to their larger, uniform particle size and reduced dusting potential. These characteristics help reduce operating expenses and safety hazards.
